NMDAR antibodies are found in autoimmune panencephalitis with neuropsychiatric symptoms, movement disorders and seizures. It may be paraneoplastic, and is immunotherapy-responsive

If Diagnostic suspicion remains high after a negative result on serum it is recommended that a second sample accompanied by a CSF sample is tested.
